Being passionate about stone floor restoration makes our job incredibly rewarding. Stone floors create a unique and brilliant statement for your home. When installing a stone floor, you have a number of choices.
What are these?
You are able to select the type of stone that you prefer. These can more easily be broken down into natural stone and man-made tile. Both have their individual benefits and drawbacks. It is important that you are able to understand and consider all of these prior to making your decision.
The way in which the tiles are laid can also help to create a unique statement. Tiles come in different sizes and larger tiles really do suit a larger space. However, this is not always the case and smaller tiles or tiles in a herringbone pattern can also create an equally attractive design. Tiles can also be fit in a brick-bond pattern or in line with each other.
Stone tiles are available in all different colours. Many try and select a grout that is a similar colour to the tile they are laying. Some go for a real contrast (such as light grout with a dark tile or visa versa). Another choice available is the size of grout lines. When laying a stone floor, you can choose to have slightly thinner or thicker grout lines. Again, it is important to be aware of the benefits and disadvantages of such options.
